Recovery Scam Warning Signs — Checklist
Eleven things a genuine claims firm will never do. Print it, keep it by the phone, and give it to anyone who has been defrauded.
People who have lost money to fraud are targeted again, often within weeks, by people offering to recover it. The second approach is frequently more convincing than the first, because the caller already knows what happened to you.
This checklist sets out the warning signs and, more usefully, the things a legitimate firm will never do: contact you first, ask for money upfront, guarantee a result, or ask for a passcode. One page, no sign-up.
